for members

The Finnish Felt Association Filtti organizes felt exhibitions open to all its members. Filtti also organizes invitation-only exhibitions.

• The exhibition invites applications for high-quality and widely designed and manufactured felt works of handicraft, art crafts, applied arts and industrial product design. The exhibitions aim to show the versatility of felt making.
• Each member of the association may send one work or a related series to each exhibition, unless otherwise stated in the exhibition information. However, the condition for participation is that the already invoiced fees (membership fee, exhibition participation fee) have been paid.
• The exhibition work must be related to the exhibition theme and must be at least partially felted / felt and wool.

Registration for the exhibition is done on Filtti website by filling out the form by the date stated in the exhibition information. Registration is binding. If the artist must cancel her registration, the full participation fee will be invoiced in any case.

• The participation fee for the exhibition will be invoiced by Filtti. The entry fee for a single work/product is stated in the exhibition information.
• If the work in the exhibition consists of 2-3 related parts or more, the work can be entered into the exhibition as a whole/series, the entry fee of which is one and a half times higher than that of a single product. For example, if the entry fee for a single work in the exhibition is 50 €, the entry fee for a series of works is then 75 € (1.5 x 50 €).
• If the exhibition work is particularly large or consists of several series or an installation, etc., the artist asked to contact Filtti exhibition organizers in advance to agree on, among other things, technical aspects of the exhibition, which may require a separate participation fee.
• For media releases and the exhibition catalogue, the following information is required by the date specified in the information:
  • name of the work
  • size
  • materials
  • method of production
  • short description of the work
  • selling price (in case the art work in on sale)
  • a short artist statement
    the above stated information
  • a description of the work
  • preferably a photo (JPG) should be sent by email to Filtti info@filtti.fi
• Filtti exhibitions are almost always sales exhibitions. Sales commission: if the exhibition gallery charges a commission for products sold, it will be announced in the exhibition information.
• Filtti does not charge a commission for works sold at the exhibition

Before submitting a felt artwork, please note that:

• the work must have hanging loops/alleys attached to the back of the work for hanging, as well as a hanging rod, so that the work can be placed on the wall. Most of the works are hung in galleries. If the work requires a special arrangement, the artist can provide instructions and materials for display.
• The work must not be damp or wet when submitted to the exhibition. If the work requires ironing or special treatment, it is a good idea to inform this. If the hanging of the work requires the purchase of additional supplies (e.g. a rod) from the exhibition builders, or if the work is sent in a package that will no longer withstand return shipping after opening, Filtti may invoice the artist for the purchase of additional supplies.
• The artist can express her wishes how the work should be displayed in the exhibition by email or in the delivery note that comes with the work. Filtti protects the exhibition works from moths with a spray of BioKill (Berner) during the hanging phase of the exhibition.

Packaging of felt works

• The transport packaging of the works must be easy to open so that the product can be easily packed in the same packaging for return shipment. Use ready-made packaging if possible. The packaging must include a delivery note.
• The exhibition work must be sent post by the date stated in the exhibition information.
• The shipping address must be in the form:

The selection and installation of the exhibition works are handled by Filtti.

• Filtti reserves the right to make changes related to the selection of works.
• An external jury member will be invited to the exhibition. The jury will be announced in the exhibition information. Exhibition works which are delayed from the jury will not be accepted when building the exhibition.
• An artwork accepted for the exhibition, or a work sold at the exhibition cannot be picked up from the exhibition before it ends.
• By mutual agreement between the gallery and Filtti, the exhibition time can be extended. Any change in the exhibition time will be agreed with the artist.

• Pictures from the exhibition can be found on Filtti Instagram and Facebook during the exhibition. The exhibition photo gallery can be seen on Filtti website after the exhibition.
• Filtti is not responsible for delays or damages caused by reasons beyond Filtti control, such as cancellation or postponement of the exhibition.
